On the hills of Nyamasheke, between Lake Kivu and the Nyungwe forest, the Gasharu washing station gathers more than a thousand smallholders around a single obsession: cleanliness and fruit. Here, Red Bourbon cherries are dried whole, natural, patiently turned on raised beds until every drop of sugar is concentrated. The cup that follows is generous and sunlit: ripe banana, brown sugar, a toffee-apple finish. A Rwandan natural just as we love them, lush and clean at once.
